About Us
Oakville Ranch is a rugged 330-acre estate, the original mountain vineyard of Napa Valley’s Oakville district. Although the district is only two square miles in the heart of Napa Valley, its wines play a large role in the connoisseur’s collection. At 1,400 feet above the valley floor, the Oakville Ranch vineyards produce grapes that speak from the appellation’s signature red volcanic soil with a mountain accent.
In the years since Mary Miner and her late husband Bob purchased the property in 1989, plantings have gradually increased to 75 acres of predominantly Bordeaux varietals, leaving the bulk of the ranch in its natural state, with indigenous grassy meadows, native woodlands and winding streams (in non-drought years) where natural fauna is encouraged and biodiversity appreciated.
The farming of the vineyards, too, has shifted from conventional techniques to a holistic organic approach, building and enriching the earth for the long term, awakening vines to their exceptional potential and producing fruit of the highest quality.
This commitment to the land extends to erosion control and the planting of water-conserving rootstocks and providing habitat to nurture beneficial insects and raptors. Solar power supplies 100% of the ranch’s needs and hybrid vehicles provide transportation.
When she is in residence, Proprietor Mary Miner tends the gardens, conservatory, citrus groves and ranch kitchen, where she enjoys hosting friends and family and sharing the ranch's bounty.
The ultimate expression of the beauty of this place is found in the wines, each of which displays the imprint of the extraordinary terroir that makes Oakville Ranch an authentic Napa Valley masterpiece.
